6/28 show: Mine...Mine...Mine...

No 40 ounces of caffeinated Slurpee goodness for me this weekend, which is probably a good thing. I did get brought into a wiffle ball game as a closer, striking out one and giving up a hit on a pitch I threw between my legs. Good times...

So, as I'm sure you all have noticed from the music I play that I'm a big supporter of local and independent music. With the consolidation of record labels and radio stations, we all need to do our part in making sure independent music is getting heard and not just what the big corporations want us to hear. One great way to do that is to support listener powered KEXP. KEXP is a public radio station that offers a mix of music that can't be heard anywhere else, entertaining listeners in Seattle at 90.3, in the South Sound at 91.7, and streaming live around the world at KEXP.org. After you hear some great artists on KEXP and you want to go out and buy their album, why not go to an independent record store while you're at it. Sonic Boom Records can be found in Fremont, Ballard, and Capitol Hill, with their new Vinyl Shop open underneath the Fremont location.

Not registered to vote yet? Well what are you waiting for? Register today! I'm not joking around. Seriously. Don't make me come over there.

Happy Last Week of June,

Name That Band Contest!
Okay, time for some fun. Some of the folks from Hello From Waveland have started a new band and are looking for a name. As a way to give them a hand I'm offering up a contest of sorts, something I'll call the "Name that Band Contest!" Send me your entries for a band name by Saturday, July 3rd and the entry with the best name will get a CD (I'll let you pick). Then, if the band picks your name they'll give you something extra special, in addition to the satisfaction of seeing the name you came up with in lights.
