Did you know that Oakley makes "asian fit" sunglasses? I was looking around on their site earlier today to see if I could find a suitable replacement for the sunglasses I had recently lost due to theft. While I was checking out all the different styles I noticed one that said "available in asian fit." Curious, I clicked the link to see what that was all about. Here is the opening sentence I saw for the description: "Designed to compliment Asian facial anatomy in both fit and comfort." At first I didn't know what to make of it. But then I remembered back to something Margaret Cho had written in her blog some time back about how difficult it was for her to find glasses that actually fit her face and how nobody made glasses that fit asian faces. When I shared the link to a friend, she told me how her fiance hates how he can never find sunglasses.
So I guess Oakley has found a way to address an overlook niche. You can't really argue against it since it helps out a large group of people and I'm sure it isn't hurting their bottom line.
Update: Here is a link to a listing of their asian fit sunglasses

So WHAT are the characteristics of an ASIAN FACE? Ugly? Fat? Round? Chubby? Huge? Yellow? Smelly?
"Non-Asians" find Oakleys much easier to wear because of the anatomy of their nose. Asians generally have flatter noses that does not protrude away from the face, therefore the small or lack of a bridge, or as oakley calls it, "nose bomb" would be fine.
ugly, fat, round, chubby, huge, yellow, and smelly faces aren't unique to asian faces.
what is unique though are the cheekbones, their usually more prominent and placed higher than in non asian faces.
asian cheekbones are to die for.
props to oakley.
well mr./miss/ms./mrs. anonymous, besides your racial comments, asians tend to have smaller faces and a smaller nose bridge than most. So before you open your racial mouth, I suggest you use that time to reflect on your lack of brain matter in your skull. XD
Asians have no nose bridge so the lower edges of the sunglasses frame hits the cheek bones. It is not because we asians have high cheek bones, it is because of the flatter bridge. For me, only glasses with nose pads would fit me so the choice is not very large.

1. Jeffrey was right about asian tend to have smaller face
2. the first commenter is a racist and is meaningless to society and earth
3. So what are the characteristics of a non-asian's over all appearance, body and face? Ugly? Fat? Round?Chubby? Huge? Yellow? Smelly?

I haven't tried their 'asian-fit' sunglasses, but their snow goggle line seems to fit better than the non-asian fitted goggles. I have the regular Oakley Wisdom snow goggle AND the same one in the asian-fit. The non-asian fit was not as comfortable and due to lower nose bridge, there was a small gap that let through all the air. Not only does it cause fogging up, but you'll be bursting into tears by the time you're at the base of the slopes. With the asian-fit, it's better. It could be better. And Better could be 'best', but this is quite an improvement from Oakley to expand their lines to asians.
LOL. Hello there. I ran a search for Oakley asian fit and yours was the first to come up.
I have a flat nose, like if Ice Cube were Chinese. I also have Tupac's eyebrows. My grandmother has a heck of an arch, according to family lore she got hit with a baseball at a game in Japan.
I can't find these glasses at REI, where I can get this shyte cheaper than the O stores. My dad has a ball-shaped head and I have the skinny one. I do find the glasses protrude from my face a tad.
I think its GREAT! I have one heck of a time finding sunglasses that fit.
If you ride a motorcycle and wear a helmet you know you have the same problem....
So, this a welcomed...
Now if only I can find a hairstylist that can do haircuts that compliment asian features!
Chubby and fat? Ummm... aren't us Asians like usually the thinnest people? At least in America...
Anyway I stumbled upon it as well. I just bought a pair of flak jackets (not the Asian fit) and they feel as good as they can.
I have a REALLY wide/round/big head, and with the tiny bridge, they don't sit on my face at all. The three modifications made to sunglasses are the EXACT three I always complain about when shopping.
About time some "genius" in marketing/R&D realized that about 20-30% of the world is Asian, I mean there are 1 billion out of 6 billion people are CHINESE. And by Asian I mean you either a) been mistaken for a Chinese person or b) eat your respective country's cuisine with chopsticks. The first qualification is for Filipinos, since they traditionally eat with their hands. Everyone qualifies! LOL
It's funny how people don't realize if all the Asian countries banded together, we would pretty much out number every single other ethnicity...
Hey man, I'm an Asian and I was looking for sunglasses from Oakley too... I had an old pair of Oakley Fives and they've done well for the past 6 years... but after taking a beating, it's time to get some new ones... (preferably polarized)
My old pair fit me fine... sat just fine on my nose... didn't hit my cheekbones... Anywho, I tried on some new Oakleys and they made some of the nosebridges noticeably tighter/closer together...
These new models sit really high up on my nose now...
I don't have a fat nose... no chubby face... no huge cheekbones... iono... weird...
I wonder if asian fit would help me any...
asian fit sunglasses. fucking brilliant. somebody's thinking over at oakley.
whats's with the "The first qualification is for Filipinos, since they traditionally eat with their hands."
You think your better than us?! The only advantage you have against us is you reproduced a lot.
And Generally were have more talented & beautiful people than you
"Eleven contestants of Asian descent have won the pageant: Akiko Kojima and Riyo Mori of Japan in 1959 and 2007, Apasra Hongsakula and Porntip Nakhirunkanok of Thailand in 1965 and 1988, Gloria Diaz and Margarita Moran of the Philippines in 1969 and 1973, Georgina Rizk of Lebanon in 1971, Rina Messinger of Israel in 1976, Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta of India in 1994 and 2000, and Brook Mahaelani Lee from the state of Hawaii in 1997." -No ONE FROM CHINA!!!
-The Philippines has won the Miss Photogenic award seven times (including a back-to-back and a three-peat), followed by the UK and Puerto Rico, both with five. Puerto Rico won its five awards during a six-year period (1999-2004, did not win in 2000). -means were beautiful and your not
I would buy a pair of the Oakley Asian-fit sunglasses pronto if they were less sporty looking. I want something more conservative or dressy looking instead. Hopefully other big manufacturers, such Maui Jim or RayBan, will pick up from there. I also am not a fan of polycarbonate lenses. The anti-scratch hard coatings on them get etched by sunscreens and bug repellent sprays.
One characteristic of the Asian face not addressed by the Oakley Asian-fit design is that Asian eye sockets are typically less deep set than Caucasian eyes. This means the lenses should have a more pronounced curvature to keep the eyelashes from touching the lenses.
In the meantime, I wear my Maui Jim Whaler, which I love, by gluing on a pair of totally inconspicuous dark foam nose pads to keep the shades high up my nose bridge.
Please folks, let's not justify the existence of the ignorant by acknowledging them.
And I must be the exception to the small faced Asian as I have a wide face and big head. It is impossible to find a decent pair of shades to fit my dome. I thought with the advent of the new "too big for my normal head" sunglass style, I would be able to find a suitable pair that looked normal on my head. While I did find a couple styles to justify my assumption, the offerings are still sparse. That's when the sunglass hut chick told me about Oakley's Asian Fit. I had to do a double take b/c I thought she was taking a jab at me. Turns out she was legit. Too bad I can't find anybody that stocks these so I don't have to buy them "sight unseen." Maybe if I go to Cerritos...
yo the person who posted the first comment should shut the hell up
he probably has no friends
i'm asian and i think asian fit is to die for.
One or more people above commented about one race being "better" than another? That is a really, really sad belief for anyone to hold. More sad to try and prove it with some statistic or evidentiary rhetoric.
BTW -- love the Oakley idea, just have to buy a pair! Surprised other companies have not followed suit.
I've heard good things about oakley's asian fit... they come in both sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses. I always find that any sort of glasses I'm wearing slide down my nose or rests on my cheeks which leaves marks. I've always knows my nose was smaller and my cheek bones were higher, but I never thought anyone would actually do anything about it till now! Along the same lines... the fact that oakley has an asian fit isn't really that offensive... they have a european fit too and I'm assuming that's for larger noses and lower cheekbones.
I am a typical small size Asian and I just got my Asian Fit Radar. I had to say i like it less than the regular Radar. I found the Asian Fit Radar stems are too wide. It feel loose on me. I just wanna warn ppl, you need to get an Asian fit just because you are an Asian. There are times it just don't fit better, like me. Try them out in store before your purchase. Now I stuck with mine since it is a custom made.
"I just wanna warn ppl, you DON'T need to get an Asian fit just because you are an Asian."
I am trying to correct my own comment above. Sorry that I type too fast.
I just ordered a couple of pairs of the Asian fit sunglasses. After years (and hundreds of dollars) in search of glasses that fit, I finally ended up on a trip to Taiwan where I found -- lo and behold -- ALL sunglasses fit me (I guess Asians know to make sunglasses that fit Asians). Alas, I lost the those glasses today, thus my pilgrimage to the Oakley site. Their description of what Asian fit means is right on with the way the ones sold in Asia are -- narrower, tighter bridge; flatter curvature at the brow -- that's what made my last pair (may it rest in peace) so great. Go Oakley! How long is it going to take Chanel and Gucci to realize the population of Asians that drop bundles on their brands -- and would spend more if their sunglasses actually fit?
azn pride. fuckn oath. i got a gascan n they were ok then i got a azn fit one n its all goods il probli keep it for years n years
I guess Asians aren't their only target for sunglasses. They also have whats called "European Fit"...How about "Middle Eastern Fit"...?
I think Asians are hot!
I just bought a pair of Oakleys Inmate asian fit. The fit was okay. But I am that breed of Korean with a huge head, so I struck out again. The nose was good. But it seemed as if the frames and lenses were not as wide as the eurofit oakley inamtes. The frame didnt square my face, instead it stopped short and I ended up looking like a 50's librarian. Damn online shopping.

In the Asian Community, Philippines are our Mexicans. You're judging racial superiority over looks? (lol, lmao, rofl). That's why 90% of you people still live in huts, while hong kong and china looks like the Wall Streets of New York.
K thanks BYE

I spent a lot of cash buying a pair of Oakley "Asian Fit" glasses for all the reasons given below.
HOWEVER, note that the ONLY difference is a different nose-piece, notwithstanding all of the marketing literature they have on their website. This was told to me by one of their salespeople when I pressed them as to why the shape/frame/etc of my "Asian Fit" glasses were EXACTLY the same as the Oakley glasses down at my local Sunglass Hut.
So, I call bullshit on Oakley and think they are LYING, and fraudulently marketing their product.
